Over the 15 years I’ve lived in Mississauga, I have probably been to every single fun spot in our great city. From Lakeshore to Streetsville there are so many fun and interesting things to do in Mississauga that you probably have never heard of. This is our list of the top 5 things to do in Mississauga.
5. Recreational Games
Throughout my time in Mississauga, I have been to every possible recreational games spot. Games like laser tag, paintball, escape rooms, go-carting, and arcades are always a great place to take your friends, family, and significant others. Some of our favorite spots to go to are;
- Playdium (Square One)
- The Rec Room (Square One)
- Laser Quest
- Paintball Nation
One of the newer places that has recently opened is the Rec Room located in Square One. The Rec Room is pretty much an arcade for young adults (18-24). There is a fully functional arcade, bar, restaurant, axe throwing area and much much more. I really suggest taking a look if you are looking for a good time!
Although you may think that going to a restaurant is an obvious thing to do, you may not know about some of the more obscure food places that are exceptional. We have noticed that some of the smallest restaurants serve some of the best food, so here is our list of the best local restaurants to try out;
- Saravana Bhavan (South Indian Cuisine)
- Sushi in the Sky (Sushi)
- Rick’s Good Eats (Indian – Canadian Fusion Comfort Food)
- Shandra’s Roti Shop (Caribbean Cuisine)
- Wok of Fame (Asian Cuisine)
- Murphys Ice Cream
- Chako Korean BBQ
Mississauga has some of the best malls and shopping centers in the GTA. The first place I would suggest checking out is the Square One Area. Square One has every shop imaginable including places like Walmart, Boston Pizza, Fossil, Hudson’s Bay, H&M, and many more. There are also recreational places in the Square One Area like Playdium, the Rec Room, and a Food District with over 20 restaurants to choose from.
The next place I would suggest checking out is Heartland Shopping Center. This huge shopping area consists of shops like Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, Best Buy, Panda Express, KFC, and many more. This shopping center doesn’t have any recreational spots, only shops and fast food joints.
Another great shopping center is Dixie Outlet Mall. Dixie Outlet Mall is smaller than the previous 2 shopping centers but is also a cool place to visit if you’re looking to grab a quick bite from their food court or visit any of their countless shops.
2. Celebration Square
Celebration Square is located near Central Library and is one of the most iconic spots to hang out in Mississauga. The city regularly throws events at Celebration Square like Canada day activities, cultural festivals, food truck events, rib-fests, and much much more. There is also an ice skating rink that opens up during the winter that you can visit if you want to go for a skate!
Even when there isn’t an event going on at Celebration Square, it is just a great place to hang out with your friends and family.
1. Community Parks
The best thing to do in Mississauga, by far, is to visit one of its countless community parks. My personal favorite place to visit is Lakefront Promenade. Lakefront Promenade is a huge area located on Lakeshore what has countless baseball diamonds, a beach volleyball court, a dock, many parks, and general areas to have a fun time.
Another place I like to visit is Kariya Park located near Square One. This mark is one of the most beautiful places to go to in Mississauga and is great for taking photographs. Kariya Park is where many high school students end up taking their prom photos because of how great the scenery is!
Some more great parks in Mississauga are;
- Jack Darling Park
- Port Credit Memorial Park
- Erindale Park
